What is the cause of low or slow water production?
Low or slow water production with reverse osmosis systems may be caused by low water pressure, crimps in tubing, clogged filters, or a fouled membrane.
- If the water pressure is below 40 psi, a booster pump may be necessary.
- If the water pressure is above 40 psi, first try retapping the tap supply line by tightening the self-piercing valve clockwise until it is fully seated, then turn it counterclockwise until it stops. This should open enough space in the line for proper water flow.
- If there are crimps in the tubing, straighten or repair them as necessary.
- If the filters are clogged, they will need to be replaced.
- If the membrane is fouled, it will need to be replaced.
